SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued a notification for the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) posts in CAPF, SSF and Rifleman (GD) for the 2026 examination cycle. The commission has also started the registration process on the official website — ssc.gov.in.

The online application process started on December 1, 2025 and will remain open till December 31, 2025, at 11 pm. Aspirants can submit the exam fee online till January 1.

SSC GD Constable 2026 Notification: Vacancies

The recruitment drive offers 25,487 vacancies in forces including Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Assam Rifles and Secretariat Security Force (SSF).

Out of the total posts, 23,467 posts are reserved for male candidates and 2,020 for female candidates. The figures are provisional and may be revised according to the needs of the participating forces, the SSC explained.

SSC GD Constable 2026 Notification: Eligibility

Candidates applying for SSC GD recruitment should be citizens of India. Since allotment of vacancies in CAPF and Assam Rifles is done on a State/UT/Region-wise basis, applicants are required to submit a Domicile Certificate or Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) relating to Domicile or Central Territory.

There is an age limit

As per DoP&T OM No.14017/70/87-Estt, the critical date for computation of age eligibility is 1st January, 2026. (RR) dated 14th July, 1988. Accordingly, the age of the candidate should be between 18 to 23 years as on 1st January, 2026-i.e., 1st January 2008, not before 2nd January, 2003, should not be less than.

  3. Fill in the document under personal, educational details and upload it.
  4. Check the details and pay the fee, and download the form.

The application fee for the SSC recruitment has been fixed at Rs. 100/-. However, women candidates, SC (SC) and ST (ST) candidates, as well as eligible and ex-servicemen, are exempted from payment of fees as per SSC policy on reservation and relaxation of fees.

SSC GD Constable 2026 Notification: Exam Pattern

The SSC GD selection process consists of several stages to ensure a fair and comprehensive evaluation of the candidates. It begins with a computer-based examination (CBE), followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and a Physical Standards Test (PST). This is followed by a detailed medical examination (DME) and document verification of the shortlisted candidates.

At each stage, only qualified candidates are considered for final selection based on overall fitness and medical fitness.

The Computer-Based Examination (CBE) for SSC GD recruitment will be conducted by the commission in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages ​​to ensure a wide reach of candidates across the country. Regional languages ​​include Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
