The Election Commission of India (ECI) conducts an update process of the voter list every year, one of the most important parts of which is the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). In this process, all the information including the name, address, age, and gender of each voter is verified and corrected.
During the SIR, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) goes door to door and distributes a special form called Enumeration Form (EF). But not only this form — certain standard forms are also used to include, correct, or object to the voter list, which can be easily downloaded from the official portal of the ECI.

1. Official Portal
The main source for downloading all types of voter forms is the Voter Services Portal of the Election Commission of India.

Or links can also be found from the website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of each state, which ultimately redirects to the same portal.
Path: Find a section on the homepage called “Download Forms”, “Elector Forms” or “Voter Services”. There is a list of all the forms.
Full Form Set: Which Form is Applicable When
The “Full Set” or complete form set that is available for download on the ECI portal contains approximately five important forms — Form 6, Form 7, Form 8, Form 6A and Form 6B.
Form Number Purpose When to use:
- Form 6 – Inclusion of new voter name When becoming a first-time voter (after completing 18 years of age) or when transferring to another constituency.
- Form 7 – Removal of name or objection If you feel that someone’s name is in the list by mistake, or you want to remove the name of a deceased/permanently transferred person.
- Form 8 – For correction, transfer or replacement of name, age, photograph or address, change of polling station within the same area, or for recovery of lost voter card.
- Form 6A – For inclusion of names of overseas voters, Indian citizens residing abroad who have not taken citizenship of another country.
- Form 6B – For submitting or linking Aadhaar number in Aadhaar linking voter list (completely voluntary).
Step-by-step download process:
- Open the portal: Open voters.eci.gov.in in your web browser.
- Find “Download Forms” section: You will find “Download Forms” or similar tab in the main menu.
- Select the required form: The list of forms usually contains PDF files in both versions — English and local language.
- Download: Click on the “PDF” link next to the desired form to save it to your device.
Important Differences About SIR Forms:
Many people get confused about Enumeration Form (EF) and Standard Forms (6, 7, 8). The two do not work the same —
1. Enumeration Form (EF) — For Verification Only
This form is used only during the door-to-door verification stage of SIR. It is distributed by the BLO itself, and all your previous information is pre-printed in it.
Through this, the voter can verify his information and make minor corrections.
EF form cannot usually be downloaded blank online.
2. Standard Forms (6, 7, 8) — Used during Claims and Objections
These three forms are most important during the “Claims and Objections” stage of SIR:
- Form 6: For inclusion of new names
- Form 7: For deletion of names or objections
- Form 8: For major corrections or change of address in the same area
Finally, wait for the Enumeration Form during the BLO’s door-to-door visit.
But if you want to register as a new voter, delete someone’s name, or make major corrections to your information, you must download and fill Form 6, Form 7, or Form 8.
The whole aim of SIR is to make the voter list more accurate, inclusive, and up-to-date — so that the right to vote of every eligible citizen is protected.
