Aadhaar Card Online Update:

If you are looking to update your Aadhaar card details, you are reading the right article. Maintaining accurate information on your Aadhaar card is extremely important, as this unique identification number serves as the primary document for various government and financial services in India.

An incorrect name on your Aadhaar can lead to issues with KYC (Know Your Customer) compliance, bank accounts, and access to government benefits. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) provides an easy and straightforward process for citizens to correct their Aadhaar name both online and offline.

UIDAI is revamping the Aadhaar update process to make it faster and more paperless. Under the new system, a user’s details will be automatically verified by cross-referencing other government databases such as PAN cards, passports, and ration cards, minimizing the need to upload documents repeatedly. Additionally, UIDAI will now accept utility bills, such as electricity bills, as valid proof of address.

Furthermore, a new mobile app will soon be launched, featuring a secure digital Aadhaar with QR code functionality. This update will eliminate the need for physical photocopies and will allow users to share their digital or masked Aadhaar securely whenever required.

How to Update Aadhaar Name Online:

The easiest method to change your name on Aadhaar is through UIDAI’s Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). For this, your mobile number must be linked with Aadhaar, as OTP-based verification is mandatory.

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Visit the Portal:
Go to the official UIDAI website and click on the Self Service Update Portal (SSUP).
  2. Login and OTP Verification:
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the Captcha code. Click on ‘Send OTP’ and enter the 6-digit OTP received on your registered mobile number to log in.
  3. Select Demographic Data:
Choose the option ‘Update Demographic Data’ and then select ‘Name’.
  4. Enter Correct Name:
Carefully enter your correct name exactly as it appears on your Proof of Identity (PoI). Note that Aadhaar allows only one name change, so ensure that all details are accurate.
  5. Upload Proof of Identity (PoI):
Upload a scanned copy of a valid PoI document. Accepted documents include a Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Driving License.
  6. Review and Submit:
Double-check all entered information and click ‘Submit’. Candidates will receive an Update Request Number (URN), which can be used to track the status of their Aadhaar name correction.
